The “Tarantula” Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is an incredibly large and energetic nebula. Its distance (160,000 ly) diminishes its visual effect. If it were at the same distance as the Orion Nebula it would fill 1/4 of the sky, and be visible during the daytime. It contains a very young region of about 1.000 massive stars that began producing stars only about 8 million years ago.

Planewave 12.5″ Astrograph with an ST11000 camera, Astrodon filters, and ASA gearless DDM-60 mount. F/5 unguided LRGB (35/6min L, 6/6min each 2×2 RGB).
