This is an image of two galaxies in the process of merging. IC2165 is the smaller one in the back, and NGC2207 is in the front. The nearest previous collision point is estimated to have taken place 40 million years ago. The gap between the two is cycling closer, and it is estimated that the 2 will finally collide in about another billion years.
