The edge-on galaxy NGC5775 is interacting with the open spiral NGC5774. The two lie about 73 million light years away in Virgo.

NGC5774 looks like a giant buzzsaw and is a relatively rare breed of galaxy. It is designated as an “LSB” galaxy, for “low surface brightness”. Stars and gas contribute little to their overall mass, and they appear to be dark matter dominated. LSBs are usually isolated systems found in relatively barren areas where interactions with other galaxies, which could trigger star formation in itself, are rare.
