These 2 galaxies lie about 65 million lys away in Virgo.
NGC5363, on the left, is a lenticular galaxy. Lenticulars are marked by the absence of gas. So no new stars have been born in it for about the last billion years.
This type of galaxy lies between spirals and ellipticals. You can just see the faint outline of its previous spiral arm structure. The reddish color of the galaxy traces to the presence of very old, red stars.
