NGC5128 – Chile

This is a very long – 18.5 hour – image of Centaurus A. Current professional consensus remains that this is an elliptical in the act of absorbing an edge-on spiral. The object emits the strongest radio signal observable on the earth, and behind the collision core there is a super massive black hole.

PlaneWave 12.5″ astrograph with an ST11000 camera, Astrodon filters, and ASA gearless DDM-85 mount. F/8 LRGB (85/8min L, 18/8min each 2×2 RGB).
