LDN 673 – Chile

This fascinating region is in the center of the “Aquila Rift” about 500 lys away. The Aquila Rift is a mass of dark clouds of dust and gas which combined with the “Vulpecula Rift” and the “Cygnus Rift” form the “Great Rift” through the Milky Way.

We can see the red tinted, fan shaped nebulosity of RNO 109, a new star, in the upper left section of the image. Across from it, we can see the Herbig-Haro object HH32, with a sort of V shaped nebulosity flowing down from it.
