NGC 0253 – Chile

The Sculptor Galaxy is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere. It is a “star burst” galaxy with its central region alive with star birth activity. Here we can see that regions of gas and dust rise above the plane of the galaxy giving it a rippled, “clumpy” appearance.
